Northwest Territories Geological Survey

The Northwest Territories Geological Survey (NTGS) is a Division of the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment, Government of the Northwest Territories.  Formerly known as the Northwest Territories Geoscience Office (NTGO), the NTGS changed its name on April 1st, 2015 to reflect our role as a government-funded research organization.  We advance geoscience knowledge of the Northwest Territories (NWT) by conducting geoscience research, analysing mineral and petroleum resources, and offering excellent digital data.

Northwest Territories Protected Areas Strategy (PAS)

The NWT Protected Areas Strategy (PAS) outlines a community-based process to establish a network of protected areas across the NWT. It recognizes the need to balance conservation and economic development, while respecting Aboriginal rights, third party interests, and land use planning processes.  The PAS involves all people and groups with an interest in the land. It promotes a sound approach to land use decision-making by including the best available traditional, ecological, cultural, and economic knowledge.
