Responding to Northern and remote communities
Limited infrastructure in Northern and remote communities can result in limited access to tools and information that are foundational for decision making. This applies to decisions on land use planning, emergency planning and response, environmental monitoring and general situational awareness. This year’s theme aims to discuss these limitations and in response, highlight opportunities and innovations to advance geospatial data infrastructures and support Northern and remote communities.
Summit Objectives

Highlight best practices to share geospatial data and facilitate its access, discovery, availability and interoperability and use

Explore possibilities of setting up services that best meet the needs of northern and remote citizens and businesses

Identify opportunities and innovation when responding Northern and remote communities in the context of spatial data infrasturctures, from data creation to various forms of data access and use

Propose strategic opportunities for standardization, joint development and partnership

Address key gaps in building and maintaining sustainable geospatial capacity and resources in Northern and remote communities
